Climate and Health
Caring about health - whether your own, your loved ones’, or your community’s - is inseparable from caring about climate change. The health impacts of a warming planet affect everyone, making climate action essential to protecting wellbeing now and for future generations.
“Climate change is the single biggest health threat facing humanity.”
World Health Organisation, 2021
Rising global temperatures, extreme weather events and shifting disease patterns threaten to undo decades of progress in public health and human development. Between 2030 and 2050, climate change is expected to cause approximately 250 000 additional deaths per year from undernutrition, malaria, diarrhoea and heat stress alone. Climate change is also exacerbating existing health inequalities, with marginalised populations bearing the brunt of the impact.

Climate change is a profound health crisis - but together, we have the power to create a strong, united voice for climate change action.
Please learn more and take action to protect the health of people in Australia and worldwide.
“The climate crisis is upon us, powered by our addiction to fossil fuels. The consequences for our health are real and often devastating.”
- Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, Director-General, World Health Organization
