Bob McMullan
RESULTS recently presented Bob McMullan with its 2010 Leadership Award for his sustained leadership in the Australian Parliament for the eradication of poverty. As one of Labor’s longest serving Parliamentarians he was also most recently responsible for overseeing the overseas aid program and championing issues like microfinance and the Debt2Health swap.

…The two things about RESULTS that I have admired is:
that they have been focussed on this issue of tuberculosis which is not as sexy as some of the other issues that more obviously evoke the passion but is an enormous issue and an issue that in a developed country we forget about because of the progress we have made – but it kills millions .
…and also because it is an advocacy organisation and the fight against global poverty needs advocates.
…I want to thank RESULTS, not just for this award for which I am very grateful but for the support, their inspiration, for creating the space within which people such as myself can move.
Here’s what Kevin Rudd had to say on Bob McMullan:
“I thank RESULTS for hosting this event that honours the substantial contribution made by Bob McMullan to the Parliament, the Australian Labor Party, to public life and in particular, his efforts tackling global poverty.”
