Living With HIV, Dying of TB

Tuberculoisis (TB) is a preventable and curable disease, but it is the leading killer of people living with HIV.

Less than 7% of people living with HIV are even tested for TB. We need to address this link more seriously.

By the World Health organisation’s estimations, we could save one million lives amongst people living with HIV by 2015.

Get in touch with your Member of Parliament to advocate the need for Australia to increase aid resources for the treatment and prevention of TB, especially for people living with HIV.

TAKE ACTION

  •   Organize a meeting with your MP to deliver the World TB Day (WTBD) postcard and discuss the importance of scaling up resources for TB
  •  Request for your MP to wear the WTBD ribbon in Parliament on Thursday, March 22, the last parliamentary sitting day prior to WTBD on March 24
  •  Write a letter to your MP requesting that they highlight to the Minister for Foreign Affairs the need to address MDG 6 through the integration and scaling up of programs to fight HIV and TB
  •  Request for your MP to speak in Parliament leading up to World TB Day, calling attention to thelink between TB/HIV
