Grassroots Advocate Update June 2015

Congratulations to our groovy Hobart team!

RESULTS Hobart got stuck in a time-warp and went back to the 1970s for their “High School Rock n Roll” fundraiser on June 20. On the night their audience of over 90 people heard that the 70s weren’t just a decade of questionable fashion and amazing music – it was also when Australia was at its most generous, with aid spending at 65c for every $100 of income. Partner Lindsey Little delivered this amazing speech, about what it means to be an activist. The night was a huge and enjoyable success, raising over $4300 for RESULTS’ advocacy work. Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved!

We’re taking expressions of interest now – contact info@results.org.au to express interest and find out more.

What’s been inspiring me this month?

Besides my amazing grassroots of course. I really enjoyed these TED talks; about the love and leadership required to transform disadvantaged schools (or, why I find myself saying “So what? Now what?” all the time now); about body language, and why you’ll see me standing with my hands on my hips like a superhero before meetings with MPs; and this amazing talk about classical music (but it’s really about passion and how to bring others along for the ride). I also cannot stop watching this long but super interesting deep advocacy workshop featuring Mark Reynolds from Citizen Climate Lobby – it’s well worth the time.

What’s been inspiring you this month? I’d love to know! Email me at info@results.org.au

Have a great day,

Gina
