Nearly 40 delegates and speakers from around Australia attended the RESULTS 2008 National Conference at North Narrabeen, Sydney on October 25/26.
Conference Highlights included:
- Opening by Uncle Bob Waterer, a descendant of the Guringai people.
- A celebration of group individual and National advocacy actions and successes over 2007 and 2008.
- A Media Skills Workshop conducted by journalists, Lauren Wilson (The Australian) and Janet Maddock (Readers Digest)
- Plenary sessions on indigenous poverty and climate change from Gabrielle Russell Mundine (Make Indigenous Poverty History), Frank Pearce (NSW Coordinator, Aboriginal Education) Catholic Education Commission, and Sr Geraldine Kearney and Maria Arana Lacayo (Pacific Calling Partnership, Edmund Rice Centre)
- Lobbying skills workshop from former Federal MPs Harry Quick (Member for Franklin TAS) and Bob Whan (Memebr for Eden Monaro NSW).
- RESULTS Leadership award presented to Harry Quick at Conference Dinner.
