I urge Senator Pauline Hanson (C-M, Mar 6) to talk to experts on vaccination so she can learn about the great benefits of protecting children against deadly diseases. Perhaps she can then provide informed advice to parents who are worried about vaccines and receive misleading information. Vaccines prevent millions of deaths around the world, and are the most effective and cheapest public health measure for disease prevention. Thanks to vaccines, we’ve eradicated smallpox, and thanks to vaccines we’re on the verge of eradicating polio worldwide. It may be that Ms Hanson has never heard of these diseases.
