Advocate Update February 2016

All about the ladies…

RESULTS groups have been busy organising events for International Women’s Day. On March 8 Sydney Northern Beaches hosted a morning tea Celebrating the Power of Women and Girls to Change the World, and on March 10 RESULTS Melbourne are hosting a screening of Rafea: Solar Mama.

RESULTS Brisbane ready for liftoff…

RESULTS Brisbane will launch on Saturday March 12, 2-5pm at Indooroopilly Library. So if you live in the Sunshine State, want to play a part in ending poverty, and are curious about what RESULTS gets up to, we want to see you there!

30th Birthday National Conference

I’m not the only one turning 30 in 2016 – so is RESULTS in Australia! REGISTRATIONS are now open. Click here for more information and to book your place. More the details of our National Conference will be released soon, so keep an eye on your inbox!

So. Much. Mud.

Three volunteers from RESULTS Hobart joined a team of ten people and took on the 8km Raw Challenge through 30 obstacles and LOTS of mud. They had a cracker of a time, laughed a lot, and in the process raised over $2500 for RESULTS! It’s not too late to donate – their fundraising page will accept donations until March 4. And while the bruises are still fresh, some of them have already signed up to do it all again in October. Stay tuned for a blog post and more photos.

What’s been inspiring me this month?

I’ve been inspired by the Perth group, new Group Leader Kalpani and her awesome team of Partners – Vanessa and Madhavi. Welcome ladies! I’ve been inspired by the successes of our grassroots, getting their MPs to sign our Pledge and having letters published in the newspaper. So many new volunteers have had their first ever meetings with MPs, which is great to see. I loved seeing this op-ed in the Canberra Times about RESULTS and am reminded how lucky we are to even be able to speak to our MPs. Not everyone has that luxury. I was reminded the other day by Cat in Perth about the existence of Kid President – his videos are always inspiring. On my reading list at the moment: From Condoms to Cabbages, and Playing Big.

What are you reading? What’s been inspiring you this month? I’d love to know!

Have a great day,

Gina
